Impact Windows & Doors FAQ in Orlando, FL

Straight answers on cost, financing, insurance, hurricane code, installation, and the products we install — from a licensed Orlando impact-window specialist.

02 The Basics

Impact windows & doors, explained.

What are impact windows and how are they different?+

Impact windows use a laminated glass — two panes bonded to a tough interlayer — set in a reinforced frame. In a hurricane the glass can crack but stays in the frame, keeping wind, water, and debris out. Every day they also cut energy bills, block noise, and deter intruders. We install them across Orlando to Florida code.

What's the difference between hurricane windows and impact windows?+

They're the same thing — "hurricane windows," "impact windows," and "impact-resistant windows" all describe laminated glass rated to withstand storm winds and flying debris. The key is that they meet Florida Building Code wind-load standards, which ours do.

Are impact windows better than hurricane shutters?+

For most Orlando homeowners, yes. Impact windows protect 24/7 with nothing to put up before a storm, and they add everyday value shutters don't: lower energy bills, less noise, more security, and possible insurance savings. Shutters are cheaper up front but only work if you install them before each storm.

03 Cost, Financing & Insurance

Paying for your project.

How much do impact windows cost in Orlando?+

It depends on the number and size of openings, the window style, and the glass package — so we give you an exact, line-item quote at a free in-home measure rather than a vague range. Most Orlando homeowners finance the project with $0 down. Call (689) 219-5507 to get started.

Do impact windows lower my home insurance?+

Often, yes. Many Florida insurers offer wind-mitigation premium reductions for code-compliant impact windows and doors. After installation we provide the wind-mitigation documentation you submit to your insurer to claim the discount.

Can I finance impact windows with $0 down?+

Yes. Qualified homeowners finance 100% of the project with $0 down, no minimum credit score, and no payment for the first 24 months. We review the options with you in person, with no pressure.

04 Code, Install & Products

Installation & products.

Are your impact windows and doors code-compliant?+

Yes. Every product is engineered to Florida Building Code wind-load and large-missile standards, with Florida Product Approval or Miami-Dade NOA documentation. We pull the permits and install to spec, and your install is inspected.

How long does installation take?+

Most whole-home window projects in Orlando install in one to three days, and doors in one to two days, once permits and materials are ready. We give you a realistic timeline at the free in-home measure and handle the permitting for you.

What types of impact windows and doors do you install?+

Windows: single-hung, double-hung, casement, sliding, picture, awning, and bay/bow. Doors: impact entry and front doors, sliding glass and patio doors, French doors, and impact garage doors — all hurricane-rated and built to Florida code.

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. American Impact Windows and Doors Orlando is a division of American Impact & Energy LLC, a Florida-licensed general contractor (CGC1540149), fully insured and bonded. Your installation is permitted and code-compliant.
